An Open Access Web-based Evidence Hub and Database Application for an International NGO
Our Client
They provide guidance and support in the generation and effective use of high-quality evidence to inform decision-making and improve the lives of people living in poverty in low- and middle-income countries (L&MICs). 3ie is registered as a non-governmental organization in the United States. It has offices in New Delhi, London, and Washington, DC.
The Goal
This website application provides a single point of access for policymakers, practitioners, and academics looking for high-quality evidence on social and economic development interventions in low- and middle-income countries.
In addition, 3ie wanted to establish a new publishing workflow by building a custom data management solution (DMS) that helps the 3ie team more effectively manage, review, approve, and publish research records.
Our Plan & Design Process
3ie and Dom & Tom began their work during the site’s Discovery Phase. The objective is to gather research, validate assumptions, and define the requirements to create a vision for a holistic product ecosystem.
This ecosystem would need a specific focus on the search experience and content integration. Utilizing the knowledge gained from these sessions combined with insights harvested from user research, Dom & Tom’s team of web developers and web designers assembled a matrix of Features and Functionality (F&F) that addresses user needs and pain points.
With the previous search functionality, users could only use basic searches to seek the answers and data they desired. This process inefficiency has led to frustrations and workarounds on users.
During the Development Phase, Dom & Tom’s web development team developed and deployed the databases, data management application and end user search query application, per the completed designs and architecture documents. Dom & Tom leveraged GraphQL and ElasticSearch to build this product in React.js.
